Alopecia

Food - 1 year ago -

Alopecia is described as a condition in which the immune system eradicates the hair follicles. Alopecia can lead to hair loss on the scalp and elsewhere on the body. In most cases, the hair is lost in small, quarter-sized amounts and usually does not exceed the amount of a few patches. In more extreme cases, Alopecia can progress to cause complete hair loss of the scalp and other areas of the body. White blood cells in the immune system rapidly attack cells in hair follicles that make the hair grow. These affected cells become small and slow down hair production.

A fortunate aspect of this process is that the stem cells that constantly provide hair follicles with new cells are not targeted, so the potential to re-grow hair always exists. Scientists believe that people may be genetically predisposed to this condition and is caused by a possible virus or something in the immediate environment.

Living with Alopecia can be very difficult and socially intimidating, but www.wigshop.com is both educated and concerned for their consumers and offer an extensive selection of wigs and accessories. Wigshop.com has links and references to books and resources that offer empathetic and informative information to those suffering through hair loss. Whether the coverage you need is top, front, or a combination of both- you will feel confident about how great you look. These hair integration pieces are a simple and luxurious way to adding body, volume, andor highlights to your hair.

Some may be concerned about how comfortable and safe their wig from the Wigshop.com can be. Innovations in the business have led to wigs becoming even lighter and comfortable than ever before. Thinner fabrics and lighter cap construction allows for a greater circulation and feel. Other features such as velvet bands can contribute to softness and the versatility in sizes and shapes ensures that anyones wig will feel and fit perfectly.

Other concerns have spawned from those with medical conditions which contribute to hair loss and who worry about the wig further worsening their condition. This is simply not something to be of concern, but quite the opposite. Wearing a wig will not harm the scalp nor inhibit the growth of natural hair.

Wearing a wig promotes better mental health and protects the scalp from sun and other damaging exterior factors. Wigshop.com realizes that its customers buy wigs to make them selves feel and look better and it is their mission that the consumer continues to do so.

All You Need To Know About Raw Food Diet

Food - 1 year ago -

Many of dieters out there are trying this kind of diet. What is it, actually? What are the advantages and disadvantages? How to do it?

Let me help you get all the answers in the following detailed explanations about raw food diet before you decide to apply it:

What is Raw Food Diet?

Raw food diet is a diet composed mainly or entirely of raw and living foods. These foods include mostly raw vegan food, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

The raw foodists can consume any foods which have not been cooked, frozen, or treated with chemical preservatives.

There are 3 types of raw foodists:

1. Living foodists, who eat a diet made up of plant food in active form, such as sprouted nuts and seeds.
2. Juicarians, who eat a diet made up entirely of juices.
3. Raw foodists who are not vegetarians, and therefore eat raw meats and unpasteurized milk

How to Start a Raw Food Diet?

Going on a raw food diet can be similar to detoxifying your body, and there can be some side effects. So when considering the raw food diet, you should start slowly, with one or more raw meals per day, and one or more meals with a raw main dish and a small cooked side dish. This can be easier on your body as well as your habits.

Where to Find the Foods?

The best kind of raw food is organic food. Organic foods are now available in a wide variety of products, not just fruits but even cookies.

While organic foods can be more expensive then regular foods, they can also be more convenient, as there are many companies starting in cities that will actually deliver organic fruits and vegetables to your front door.

What Are The Advantages?

Many raw foodists choose the diet because they believe that cooking, freezing or otherwise processing foods can destroy vitamins, bacteria, and enzymes. They also believe that cooking food makes food harder to digest, partially due to destroying enzymes which are acting as catalysts in the digestion of food.

Raw foods contain less chemicals and preservatives, which are not natural in foods. Raw food is also less toxic and more easily digested, while containing more vitamins and minerals than processed foods.

The raw foodists also believe that the diet can improve health, lower risk of heart disease (because of a diet low in trans-fats), improve digestion, improve skin appearance, and increase the energy levels.

What Are The Disadvantages?

An important concern in a raw food diet is the lack of animal proteins. One needs to get all the essential amino acids.

To fulfill all the nutrition and avoid deficiencies in protein and vitamin B12, a raw foodist might need some nutritional supplements.

So, after you find out all you need to know about raw food diet, are you ready to start one now?

All About Brain Anatomy

Food - 1 year ago -

The brain is a fascinating and complex unit of our anatomy. The brain is responsible for so many things. It stores our short term and long term memories. The ability to learn is from our brain as well. Our emotions and triggers are stored in our brain. The brain is a source of information on everything we do and about who we are.

The anatomy of the brain shows us just how complex it truly is. There is so much about the brain science and the medical field have not yet uncovered. However, there is a great deal we have learned about the brain by studying the physical features of it. We have also learned from the neurological aspects of the brain. We have the ability to perform brain surgery and remove tumors as well as install plates for those who have neurological damage. This is a fascinating area of science and medicine that can be overwhelming to learn about in detail.

There are six main areas of the brain to learn about. The parietal lobe helps us understand written language as well as communicate with others. Our sensory cortex is located here, controlling the sensations we get with touching and amounts of pressure. This is also an area of judgment for size, weight and distance.

The occipital lobe is located at the rear of the brain. This is where visual information is processed. It helps use to recognize shapes and colors. The cerebellum helps us with coordination including balance and muscle movement that help you walk, talk, eat, and routine tasks involved in caring for ourselves.

The brainstem is a very important part of the brain. It is connected to the spinal cord. This portion of the brain helps with required body functions including breathing, digesting, the regulation of the heart rate, blood pressure, and being alert while awake.

The temporal lobe is how we smell. This is surprising information for most of us who think only the nose is responsible for our sense of smell. This region is also used for short term memory processing.

The frontal lobe is a very important portion of the brain. It is responsible for planning, organizing, problem solving, paying attention to details, behavior, and emotions. This is the area of our brain we use the most in our daily routines and decisions.

Since the brain performs so many features, it is obvious why a brain injury can be so serious. It can result in death if areas such as the brainstem are affected. Brain injuries can affect how other areas of the body are able to function. Ironically, we only use about 10% of our brain!

A Simple Guide To Gastroenteritis

Food - 1 year ago -

What is Gastroenteritis?

Gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the lining of the intestines caused by a virus, bacteria or parasites resulting in leakage of fluid from the cell into the intestine(diarrhea),abdominal pain and vomiting.

What are the causes of Gastroenteritis?

Viral Gastroenteritis:

The most common cause of Gastroenteritis is Viral.

Rota virus is the leading cause among children 3 to 15 months old and the most common cause of diarrhea in children under the age of 5 years.

Adenovirus occurs mainly in children under the age of 2 years.

Caliciviruses especially the norovirus cause infection in people of all ages.

Astrovirus also infects primarily infants, young children, and the elderly.

Bacterial Gastroenteritis:
The most common cause is the E. coli bacteria, usually mild with diarrhea, abdominal pain and occasional vomiting. It rarely cause fever.

Salmonella, Shigella ,Vibrio cholerae, are more serious bacterial infection causing diarrhea and high fever.

Parasitic Gastroenteritis:

Most common is amoebic dysentery, common in India and Africa.
Other parasitic infection are giardiasis and threadworms.

What are symptoms of Gastroenteritis?

The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are

1. watery diarrhea
2. abdominal pain
3. vomiting
4. headache
5. fever.
6. loss of appetite and energy

Symptoms usually appear within 4 to 48 hours after exposure to the germ and last for 1 to 2 days, though symptoms can last as long as 10 days.

How is Gastroenteritis transmitted?

Gastroenteritis can be highly contagious. The germs are commonly transmitted by people with unwashed hands.

People can get the germs through close contact with infected individuals by sharing their food, drink, or eating utensils, or by eating food or drinking beverages that are contaminated with the germs.

Noroviruses in particular, are typically spread to other people by contact with stool or vomit of infected people and through contaminated water or food especially oysters, prawns, crabs, lobsters, cockleshells from contaminated breeding waters.

How is the diagnosis of Gastroenteritis made?

Doctors generally diagnose gastroenteritis based on the symptoms and a physical examination. Your doctor may ask for a stool sample to test for rotavirus or to rule out bacteria or parasites as the cause of your symptoms.

How is Gastroenteritis treated?

Most cases of viral gastroenteritis resolve without specific treatment.
Antibiotics are not effective against viral infections.

The primary goal of treatment is to reduce the symptoms which may include an antispasmodic drug to stop abdominal cramps, medicine to harden the stools such as kaolin and slow down the intestinal movement (lomotil or loperamide).

Prompt treatment may be needed to prevent dehydration which is the loss of fluids from the body. Important salts or minerals, known as electrolytes, can also be lost with the fluids. Dehydration can be caused by diarrhea, vomiting, excessive urination, excessive sweating, or by not drinking enough fluids because of nausea, difficulty swallowing, or loss of appetite.

The symptoms of dehydration are
excessive thirst
dry mouth
little or no urine or dark yellow urine
sunken eyes
severe weakness or lethargy
dizziness or lightheadedness

Mild dehydration can be treated by drinking liquids.
Severe dehydration may require intravenous fluids and hospitalization.
Untreated severe dehydration can be life threatening especially in babies, young children and the elderly.

The following steps may help relieve the symptoms of gastroenteritis.

1. Allow your gastrointestinal tract to settle by not eating for a few hours.
2. Sip small amounts of clear liquids or suck on ice chips if vomiting is still a problem.
3. Give infants and children oral rehydration solutions to replace fluids and lost electrolytes.
4. Gradually reintroduce food, starting with bland, easy-to-digest food, like porridge or soups.
5. Avoid dairy products, caffeine, and alcohol until recovery is complete.
6. Get plenty of rest.

How is Gastroenteritis prevented?

You can avoid infection by:

1.washing your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds after using the bathroom or changing diapers
2.washing your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds before eating
3.disinfecting contaminated surfaces such as counter tops and baby changing stations
4.Avoid eating or drinking foods or liquids that might be contaminated

A Quick Guide To Developing Your Own Psychic Abilities

Food - 1 year ago -

Everyone is psychic. What a person can or cannot do is not an indication of your true abilities. However intuition is interesting. The more you listen to it the more feedback it will give you. Therefore, you really need to practice trusting your intuition, paying attention to the way your unconscious mind tells you information. For some it is a simple knowing in the quiet moments of meditation. For others it may be a gut feeling or a body sensation. The unconscious mind can use any of your senses to communicate; these include the five following senses.

Vision this involves isolated images or symbols you see or it can be more detailed images of clairvoyance or remote viewing.

Hearing also known as clairaudience, involves hearing words or sounds in one ear and not the other. This can be scary for those who are not familiar with it as hearing voices is traditionally a sign of insanity.

Touch is probably also considered clairsentience as it is a feeling intuition as physical body sensations.

Smell can also give psychic information whether simple or complex.

Taste although far less common than the other methods, it has been known for some psychics to get a taste in their mouths when interpreting psychic information.

There are many ways you can practice using your intuition. Some are listed below.

Traffic: If you live in a city with frequent traffic reports try to guess which roads are bad and why. This works even better if you have two routes to get home, each with an equal chance of having delays. You can guess which roads to use to get home faster, and then listen to the traffic report. It is not helpful if one road is always bad, because then logic takes over.

Shopping: Without checking the adverts try to guess what you are going to pay for something and where the best place to buy it is. Afterwards check out the facts.

Parking: Try to let your intuition guide you to the best parking space. This is particularly useful during the holiday season.

Telephone: See if you know is on the telephone before you pick it up.

Sports: Without knowing anything about the game or the teams try to guess who will win and what the scores will be. Then check out the results.

The trick is to find something you care about, or something you cannot know for sure based on past knowledge and experience and you can get feedback on. Then pay attention to the difference in feelings between that which proved to be right and that which proved to be wrong. Take notice if you have ignored your intuition and see if you later regret not acting upon it, be aware of how that information came to you so that next time it happens, you do not ignore it.

Learn to listen to feedback from your body on the psychic hits you get. One of the best psychic development techniques is learning to tell when you are getting information that is right or wrong.

Work on issues you hear all the time that you rarely act upon. You have to work on your psychological baggage; I cannot emphasize this enough! All information is accessed and processed through the unconscious mind. If you have issues and you do not want to look at them you will find that the psychic information you receive will be distorted. Many people have found they are blocked by the spirit realm because they are unwilling to tackle their own issues.

The more you trust your intuition, the more information you will receive. This knowing will become more and more definite and you will want to pass this information on. If you believe you have information for someone, be ethical. There are stories of many psychics who have been said to loose their powers because they abuse their gift. It is impossible to say how true this is, however, if you do not lose your abilities, you certainly run the risk of other difficulties. Always get a persons permission before you give out information as without their permission you could place yourself in big trouble and in extreme cases criminal prosecution. Be ethical, be considerate. Always ask for permission before you give out information to someone. Never promise what you can not deliver, whether it is a sure-fire investment or the spirit of someones long lost grandfather. Honesty is the best policy in this line of work. Remember, everyone has days off and it is no different for psychics, you need to break away for a day to recharge your energy levels.

Key points to remember

If you find yourself wondering if you are crazy, it probably means you are sane. People having an initial psychic opening often start their conversations with lines like you are going to think I am crazy but or you are never going to believe me but. The mere fact that you doubt you own sanity is a reassuring sign that you are still in touch with reality, you are simply trying to figure it out.

The issue is not whether you are hearing voices, but what those voices are saying. There is a rule, if the voices are helping you then it does not matter, whether those voices are a part of your unconscious mind or spirits, it is alright to have them around. However, if the comments are destructive, negative or hurting you, then it is time to lose the source they coming from.

The hard thing you need to learn is what not to say. You can receive a lot of information that is better left unsaid. This is probably the most difficult thing to learn, because it requires good judgment which sometimes only comes with time and practice. Some psychics claim they say everything that comes to them. In these cases I suspect their guides are trying to filter the information before it gets to their mouths. However, for most of you it is wise to consider what might be helpful (if you can word it right) and what would only be harmful, whether true or false.

It is important to live in the present. You may be vividly aware of past lives and you may be able to slide mentally into the future. However, you are living in the present and that is where you need to focus. Most people forget their past lives for a reason; they have past and that is where they belong. The future will take care of itself if you remember to focus on the present without being pulled off balance by the past.

When you first start receiving information or seeing spirit it is very hard to switch it off, however, this is something you must do. It is common when you first start to open up as a psychic, that you will see colors or images (especially faces) at night. This is partly because of the normal shift in consciousness that occurs as you fall to sleep or are waking as it increases the ability to sense things. To some extent, this is normal.

As you begin to trust your intuition and the information you receive you will find it hard to switch off. Turning off your psychic gift is something you have to do or you will suffer from information overload.

Imagine your sensitivity to psychic information as a number on a control screen in your mind. Then visualize that number going down, decreasing until you are no longer aware of psychic information. In the morning you can always reverse the process and return the number back to where it was before.
